Pianist Susan Toman began learning the piano at age three, an enthusiast from the very beginning! Many years of lessons, competitions, and performances later, she completed her ARCTs in piano performance & teaching, followed by a Bachelor of Music in piano at Wheaton College (Illinois). She then earned a Masters of Music at the University of Michigan - where she divided her time equally between piano, fortepiano, and harpsichord,, studying with Louis Nagel, Edward Parmentier, and Penelope Crawford.
Susan performs frequently at churches and for special events. She is passionate about teaching and enjoys the step-wise process of de-mystifying music notation and expression. Lessons are one-on-one in her studio and incorporate a well rounded approach, from note-reading to technique and repertoire. Susan uses RCM curriculum, supplemented by various styles including jazz, pop, and movie music.
